Today I was asked by a good friend of mine why I love Disney so much. She didn’t say it rudely, she was just curious. Surprisingly enough, this was the first time I’ve ever been asked this question. If you’ve ever spent at least 5 minutes with me, you know about my love/obsession with anything Disney related. Well it started before I was even able to talk. My family and I went to Disneyland paid for by my dad. Though he never went on the trips himeslf, he saw it as a way for my mom and sisters and I to bond. You see, after I was born, my dad was diagnosed with leukemia, that’s why he never went because of the treatment. Desptie this, he paid for my family to go every summer. That is, until February of 2001. That’s when he lost his battle with cancer. I don’t remember him, no pictures, no momentos of his, nothing. Squat. Zilch. Nada. We still go to Disneyland every year, but my family has started to drift away from it. Saying that they want to go on a cruise or do something besides Disneyland. I’m completely against the idea of going anywhere else besides the Happiest Place on Earth. Why? Well if you haven’t alread figured it out, it’s the only link I have to my dad. So there you have it. That is why I love Disney so much, not just cuz it’s a great company, but becasue it’s the closest I can get to my dad.
